Mexico City olympic 68 exhibiton AMAZING! (we both fall in love) ,art gallery, mexican shoes for guy (he has bought them every trip sonce 2002), yum tortilla papas, bus to Cuernavaca, adopted by David (guys mexican friend and his family), according to old Mexican men I look like princess Dianna, according to David I look like Guy´s exgirlfriend!!!!!, Dinner with the family celebrating

Cuernavaca to Puebla, yes you guessed it another bus, for those of you that know me Puebla is the Sweets Capital (I dont need to say anymore) roam around for a day looking at churches and masks for redboy then that night on another bus to Oaxaca. Get to Oaxaca at about 4am (yep didnt really time it all that well) sat in a freezing bus terminal until 6.30am when the buses start. Get to central find a hotel and defrost. Lots of little trips out of Oaxaca to Textile town/precinct watching the indeginous ladies weaving, to black pottery town, wood carving town (where a shop keeper fed us pure alchohol extracted from Mescal Plant).

the only two gringos on the bus.....

so we arrive in Tijuana 6.5 hours later. We decide, since by this stage we have already been in transit for over 40 hours and we have already seen everything in between Tijuana and Mexico City , we are going to catch the direct bus from Tijuana to Mexico City. Total travelling time for this route 40hours. With the exceptional 15min stop for tortillas. The bus was full of Mexicans going home except for these two gringos. After the first 5hours of staring I think we finally became part of the group. I even got a little help when we stopped at a check point and was singled out by the military. Dam white skin.
We get to Mexico City, by this stage in Transit from Australia for over 4 days without lying flat.
We found a hostel.
sleep.

About to catch another bus.......
write to you soon

walking the streets of L.A and fried fish at 1am in the morning

(sorry for the delay... you will understand in a moment)

28 hours later we land at LAX about 8pm on Saturday night and made it through scary U.S customs (Cory, Amanda you will be happy to know I didnt mention bombs this time) it went pretty smoothly.

We decided to try our luck with a train to San Diego that night rather than wait for the morning. While on our way to Union Station (big station like Spencer Street where all the interstate trains run, and by the way I will NEVER call it "Southern Cross Station") we had to catch 2 local trains to get there. I will emphasize that by this time it is about 10.30pm on a Saturday night in a lets say, not so "sunny" part of LA.

Anyway, totally blending in with our backpacks waiting for a train when asked the question " So where are you guys from?" So this conversation leads to the information that the trains to San Diego have finished and the only other way to San Diego or Tijuana overnight is to take a bus.
This was followed by at least 3 or 4 warnings not to as the greyhound bus terminal was in the shadiest part of town. So, we said goodbye and were on our way to the bus terminal. Thats right, we discussed it and decided if we were going to go down, we were going to go down in style, gangsta style.

So we come out from the train station (by this time about 11pm) and started walking to the bus stop that would take us to Greyhound. We started walking, and walking and even though we were passing bus stops, not that many people were lining up for buses.
Hmmm, I thought.
Finally about 30mins later we found about 20 people at one bus stop (I think the thinking was strength in numbers) anyway, we waited. And waited. Finally about 45mins later and one crack head beating averted , we were at the greyhound terminal.

So, we booked our tickets and we were on the 2.30am to Tijuana. So with 2 hours to kill we sat ate fried fish, peas and the worlds best banana cake (x 3 pieces)

Finally. By this stage we have been in transit for about 38hours and counting the seconds till we are on the bus.
(*note: Both redboy and I had previously discussed our lining up styles and agreed we were both waiters)

So, the line forms as the bus is outside the terminal. I casually look around and point out, that there seemed like quite a lot of peeps in a line for one bus, but redboy confirmed "Dude, we got our tickets, we have a seat." About 10mins later the bus departed and we were still standing in the terminal. Thats right people, about 75 tickets were sold for a bus that seats 50.

We were now on the 4.30am to Tijuana.

half way there & vegetarian meals include pork....

well peeps half way there, just arrived in Taipei (and yes for those thinking, but Taipei is in the other direction to LA we are taking the long way) the other half commences in 3 hours totalling 23 hours instead of 14 direct. What can I say..... was quite a few pesos cheaper and Im still a poor student at heart.
Anyway, China Airlines = Vegetarian meals with pork.

I have to go now because there are no chairs at the computer station and I am on my knees and it hurts.

Peace out.

L (lets face it redboy isn't going to play!)

well looky here... guess who just found out what a blog is

It has been brought to my attention that since neither redboy or I possess a digital camera to keep peeps in the loop de loop, the least we could do (while overseas) is start a blog.
Um, so I have done that (props to my Tech girl Michaella) and now I'm just sitting in my apartment, a day and a half away from departure wondering why I just started something that will essentially keep me in front of a computer screen while on holiday, which is why I needed the damn break in the first place.
Idiot.
Also, it should be noted that while this blog was created for both leroy AND the redboy in good faith that both parties would partake, I cannot guarantee any participation from the redboy
In fact, it would probably be best to say that this ship is flying solo. So if you are content with just lil' ol me stay tuned. If not, meh.
